Wedding Reception in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk

Next is a wedding from the Autumn. Donna & Cillian were married in the church at Ballapousta (Ardee) last Autumn. we then went on to Stephenstown Pond for a few photos before heading to the (very high !) Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dundalk for the reception. The day was lovely and sunny – if a little damp. Typical enough for Autumn in Ireland. In case you don’t guess – there’s a green theme to the wedding !

Trinity College Chapel – Shelbourne Hotel Wedding : Meghan & Jack

OK, so here’s the next in my series of weddings from the year gone by. I was just too busy to post them at the time, but things are a bit quieter at the start of the New Year.

Meghan, originally from the USA and Jack, originally from Dublin, met while Meghan was doing her Master’s at Trinity College. The chapel is used for both traditions, and therefore, perfect for their wedding ceremony, which was co-officiated between a Catholic Priest and Protestant Pastor.

Meghan and Jack decided to ditch the standard receiving line in favor of a more unique idea. Instead of Meghan and Jack receiving the guests, they were received by the guests lined up (almost forming a tunnel) and waving small Irish and American flags as they walked through.

Instead of a receiving line - the Bride & Groom walk through a tunnel of the guests - all lined-up outside

Having some fun with the groom !

Surrounding the cake were framed photos of the couples’ grandparents and great-grandparents who couldn’t be present. Some have passed away and others couldn’t attend the wedding due to the far distance required to travel.

Christmas 2011 – Happy Christmas Everyone

I just wanted to say Happy Christmas to all my past clients, family and friends.

These are some photos I took in my home town (Trim, Co. Meath) last Christmas Day.

Beautiful scenery! Snow really makes winter seem like winter. Miss having that here!

Wedding Reception in ely bar & brasserie (IFSC)

Now that the busiest part of the “Wedding Season” is over, I’m finally getting around to posting some photos from earlier weddings. I hope to continue this over the next few weeks. The wedding show here is of Chris & Nivia who had a civil ceremony in a city-centre hotel, followed by a wedding reception in ely bar & brasserie IFSC (formerly ely CHQ) . However, unusually for an Irish wedding, they met up before the ceremony in Maynooth for some pre-ceremony photos. This helped of course, because at that time of year (late Winter)  it got dark quite early.

So, on to the photos. The first few were taken in Maynooth College – before the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, everyone went on to ely winebar in the IFSC. This has some wonderful vaults under the original Stack A warehouse where it’s located. These offer a very atmospheric location for a wedding reception or other event. You can get  good idea of how they look in the following photos.

Somehow, the screen lights (above) reminded me of the Van Gogh “Starry Night” painting ! The following photos is how one of the vaults was set-up for the wedding party.

Trinity College Dublin – Chapel Window

I’ve covered a few weddings in Trinity College this year – normally I have one or two – but had four this year. I noticed that one of the stained-glass windows looks suspiciously like a depiction of Cupid – complete with hearts. Maybe this is just my imagination run wild (I haven’t been able to find out anything else about the window) – but I like to think it’s very appropriate for the weddings held there.  It’s often used as a little scene-setting detail image in albums as well.
