Wedding Tradition – exchange of coins

It used to be a tradition for the Bride and Groom to exchange coins, to serve as a symbol of sharing their worldly goods (as well as ensuring continued prosperity). I haven’t seen it very much in recent Weddings, but these 2 coins were exchanged by the Bride and Groom in a recent ceremony.

It’s unlikely you will ever see one of these coins in circulation. The Central Bank issued this to celebrate Ireland’s Celtic Culture.
