Karen & Stephen had their wedding in Karen’s home area of Galway. The day started with getting ready in Karen’s house, then on to St. Colman’s Church in Corrofin. Following the wedding, we had a short stop in Raftery’s pub, across the road from the church. Then we drove in convoy to the intriguing and historical Cloonacauneen Castle, in Claregalway, for the reception. One of the things which struck me along the way was the old custom of lighting small bonfires along the route, to salute and welcome the newly married couple. It’s something I haven’t come across elsewhere – but adds a lot to the day.

In Cloonacauneen – there’s a great choice of locations – indoors and out – for photos, including an ancient stone room in the tower with a large fireplace. Lots of interesting features and objects to view there. Finally, the evening finished with the reception, speeches and dancing to Delorean (Back to the Eighties).
