Lynsey & Ian were married in a Civil Ceremony at the National Gallery, just before last Christmas. Lynsey and the bridesmaids got ready in the nearby Shelbourne Hotel – where I met them before the ceremony. We had a few quick photos in their room before heading out to the wonderful hotel landing and staircases. It’s a perfect location for bridal and small group photos.
Meanwhile, at the National Gallery, the groom, best man and the rest of the guests were arriving. The ceremony took place in the beautifully restored Georgian house, which is literally “built-in” to the gallery. It has its own separate entrance. However, the windows which would have once looked out onto the garden, now look directly into the gallery. It’s a great location for small to medium-sized weddings. Apart from the ceremony room itself, a few other rooms are available for the drinks reception and photos.
I had walked down to there to take some photos of the groom, and await the arrival of the bride. Following the ceremony, we went next door for a drinks reception, and I commandeered one of the rooms for the family photos (an important part of the day). Following lots of fun and photos, the wedding party departed for a meal in a nearby restaurant.
